Initial Survey
Each project begins with a meeting at the project site with you. We outline the goals and parameters of the project, and discuss initial ideas and directions the project could take. Debra encourages clients to contribute their décor and design ideas and preferences. Often, magazine pictures that you have collected to demonstrate your desires are quite useful. Ultimately, the design and decoration of your space should reflect your needs and personality. You should feel entirely comfortable and supported by your surroundings.
Designs and Presentations
During the survey of the room or house a detailed analysis will be made of all aspects of the space discussed. As required, a Scope of Work list of all items to be addressed will be developed. When needed, floor plans and elevations will be drawn, to provide us with a basis from which to work out design solutions. This is especially valuable for kitchens and baths and new cabinetry designs.
Interior Materials & Finishes
Interior design and decoration involves choosing materials and finishes for floors, walls, and ceilings from thousands of possibilities. Decisions about cabinetry, plumbing fixtures, and lighting fixtures are also an integral part of the selection process. With the vast selection of products available on the market, it is difficult to keep up with the latest trends and products. To complicate matters even more, certain suppliers are strictly to the trade, not allowing you to see the full range of choices available.
The large variety of materials and finishes can make these choices quite a challenging task to do on your own!
Furniture, Window Treatments, & Fabric Selections
Because furniture and window treatments are major components of interior design and decoration, the choice of furnishings and windows coverings will be a very important part of each project. Selecting furniture and window treatments also involves choosing fabrics, which in turn requires looking through fabric books in furniture showrooms, or visiting fabric showrooms in design centers.
